A visit to Moffat will help you refresh mind, body and spirit. Whatever way you choose to relax and unwind, Moffat has something to offer. If healthy exercise or bird watching is not your thing, choose to pamper yourself, or check out the range of independent shops.
If, like many of us who have holidayed here and subsequently decided it would be a lovely place to live, details of activities in the Community can be found in Moffat What’s On Guide. The guide details the activities of the majority of the clubs, societies, etc. in the town and also gives details of all known events at the time it goes to print at the beginning of March each year. The guide covers events during the period 1st April to 31st December. Printed copies can be obtained from outlets all around the town and the .pdf file of the What’s On Guide can be downloaded.
For additional information regarding the Community, our Community website – Moffat Online – covers information about many of the town’s Community activities and Let’s Eat Local “does what it says on the tin” and sells locally produced organic food from the Buccleuch Arms Hotel every Thursday evening.
With very few exceptions, all our shops are independent, family-owned businesses providing that extra degree of “service with a smile” that isn’t necessarily found in the shops you find in every other town.
On the second Sunday of each month, there is a Farmers’ Market in the Town Hall selling delicious craft-produced produce and there are also some craft stalls.
Do come and find out for yourself!
It is a shame that this region is not better recognised for all it has to offer. Its scenery may not have quite such high mountains or be as rugged as the Highlands, but it has a beauty all its own and we would encourage you to take time to explore, especially as we are ideally placed for visits to anywhere in the south of Scotland – Solway Coast to the Borders as well as being only an hour’s journey from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
